DIY Mixer Bottle

‘Ello eaters!

Today I was planning to be productive as hell, but then I spent an hour and a half longer than I should have at Target while three different employees tried to figure out how to use an eGift Card, so I was less productive than I planned. Add on top of that the fact that as soon as I got home, Leon and Will arrived with a bed and we got to talking and drinking, and you can see how I didn’t quite get everything checked off my To Do list.

Normally, that makes me borderline twitchy, but since I no longer live next door to all my friends I don’t mind playing hookey from responsibilities to hang out with them.

But, I did get one important thing done today — I went to the gym!

Between going to Paris where my only real workout was the Eiffel Tower and couch surfing and then moving, my workouts have been few and far between.

The thing is, though, I really WANT to workout. But when going to the gym takes at least an hour and a half plus a shower, it’s easy to see how that time could be better spent scrubbing walls or trying to find furniture.

Now that things are drastically more settled, though, I’m raring to get back to my regular workouts.

There was only one thing standing in my way — I forgot my mixer bottle in Georgia.

I drink a protein drink before and after EVERY weights workout. Not taking in protein almost negates the whole point of a workout (to build muscle) so I ALWAYS do it.

Unfortunately, I’m always forgetting my mixer bottle places.

For a long time that meant I was stuck cardio-ing it up or suffering through with a giant cup and a whisk until I got my bottle back. But cardio gets boring and I don’t even have a big cup right now (and that never works as well), so today I got creative.

DIY Mixer Bottle

(I imagine this would also work really well for salad dressing.)

Take two slightly bent bottle caps and an empty (GT’s Kombucha) glass bottle.

I say that the caps have to be slightly bent because then you have to force them a little into the mouth of the bottle, which means you don’t have to worry about them falling down your throat.

I mix half water and half soy milk.

Put the two caps in the bottle with the desired amount of liquid.

Then fashion a funnel out of tin foil (or use a real funnel, if you’re fancy like that).

This is a crap funnel, but it did the trick.

Pour the protein powder into the funnel and then shake the funnel until all the powder is in.

Then put the top on the bottle and give it a good shake.

In all honesty, this might have worked better than my mixer bottle. I didn’t find a single clump and it mixed up really quickly.

Granted, I’m not throwing out my mixer bottle (once I get it back), but with this little trick I gain an excuse to drink a kombucha and lose an excuse not to go to the gym.

What could be better than that?!
