Future Fall Favorites

G’evening eaters!

Let me start this post off by saying that I’m exhausted. This is literally the first time I have not been working or running errands or in meetings or at the gym (hot damn, supersets kick my ass like no other) or running from one end of campus to the other.

I’m exhausted. But productive. So all is well.

Well, except for you because right now my brain is mush.

So instead of my usual witty self you’re going to get my list of future fall favorites. Because while I’m trying so hard to enjoy the last few weeks of summer weather, I am getting excited for fall.

First up: Fashion

I’m not super into fashion, mainly because I’m super broke. (Or so I think.) But lately I’ve been dissatisfied with my wardrobe and looking for some new things. The changing of the seasons is a perfect time for that, right?

And right now I’m really loving pleats.

Maybe I’ve been watching too much Mad Men. Maybe I’m thinking too much about the possibility of a fabulous London internship in the spring. Whatever the reason, I can’t get enough of the idea of big pleated, structured skirts.

With the cooler weather also come boots, and I can’t wait to dig my out of storage.

Or until someone buys me these. Or until I figure out how to wear these.

But really, how do I, at 5’1”, wear booties without looking like a deranged pirate wench? And please don’t just say with skinny jeans.

Luckily, one thing I know how to wear is scarves.

I heart scarves so freaking much. And maybe I’ll even be able to finish knitting that scarf I’ve been working on since last Christmas.

Baby steps, eaters. Baby steps.

There’s more to cooler weather than clothes, though. There’s also food.

Of course I have a plethora of recipes that I’m dying to make again. Like…

O'm'gosh, I love this soup so freaking much.

Eureka Paprika Split Pea Soup

The epitome of a soul satisfying soup.

Ironically Meaty Black-eyed Pea Soup

And Hot Mess Cocoa, of course.

But I’m not the only bloggirl who can make up delicious fall recipes.

Nope, Mama Pea’s Spicy African Peanut Stew is looking pretty appealing.

And maybe I’ll finally get around to making Emily’s Butternut Squash and Black Bean Chili in a Pumpkin Bowl.

Because there are few things I enjoy more than a good bowl of chili.

Kath’s Sweet Potato Gnocchi made the list, too.

It doesn’t hurt that the farmer’s market has more sweet potatoes than a bloggirl conference could eat in a year. Oh yeah, eaters, that’s a lot of sweet potato.

So all in all, I’m getting pretty excited for fall. And soup. Can you tell?

What are you looking forward to?

G’night eaters!

Now that's what I'm talking about! Love the red skirt, really love the linen-ey short pleated skirt. And the food looks gorgeous! Soooo much better than eating donuts!
